The city is known for its famous noodle delicacy called Pancit Malabon is one of the cities that make up Metro Manila. The city is one of the most densely populated cities in the metropolis with a population of 363,000 with a land area of only 19.71 square kilometers. It is composed of 21 barangays.

The city is also known as the local Venice due to year long floods and gradual sinking. it is famous for various Filipino delicacies such as the puto bubong, sapin-sapin, broas, and bibingka. Other industries include sugar refinery, fish sauce making, cigar making, and flower extract production.
